About
My name is Susanne Layla Petersen, I am an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in Copenhagen, Denmark. My works include video, digital art, collaborative installations, web projects, NFTs, photography, texts and sound. This website glasslabs.works is my artist website.
Why “glasslabs”?
Because “glasslab” was not available when I registered the .com, there was always only meant to be one lab, my lab. “Glass” refers to the shattered glass that has appeared in much of my work from the beginning.
GENERAL STATEMENT
My approach to art is centered around the idea that the artwork itself is the primary medium of communication, I reject the relevance of extensive artist statements or explanatory texts. I believe that art should provoke reflection and interpretation directly through the experience of the work.

FAVOURITE QUOTES
“My films generally center around thousands of pictures being flashed in rapid succession to create the illusion of motion” – Lars von Trier
“When you finish anything, people want you to then talk about it. And I think it’s almost like a crime. A film or a painting – each thing is its own sort of language and it’s not right to try to say the same thing in words. The words are not there. The language of film, cinema, is the language it was put into, and the English language – it’s not going to translate. It’s going to lose.” – David Lynch
